Dyson Center Stays On Schedule
Dyson is set to finish construction before 24-25 school year
Throughout the summer, Marist College continued construction on the revamped Dyson Center. The $60 million project remains on schedule to finish in summer 2024.
The long-awaited renovation broke ground in June 2022 and has been a distinct sight in the middle of campus since.
Dyson is home to the School of Management and School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, whose classes during the construction have been mainly relocated to 51 Fulton and Donnelly Hall.
The temporary challenges of losing an academic building for two years are not hidden, but the finished product promises a bright future.
The new Dyson Center will feature state-of-the-art classrooms, research labs, a lecture hall and various common spaces designed for collaboration. This summer, large concrete exterior wall panels with stone were installed, giving the first look at what the modern building will look like.
Work on the building will continue throughout the 23-24 school year.
For Dr. William Lamb, Dean of the School of Management, there are many things to be excited about when Dyson re-opens. More classrooms, collaborative spaces, conference rooms and quiet work spaces for students and faculty are at the top of the list.
“[The atrium is where] we will be able to have a lot of club activities, guest speakers and other events in the same space where students spend their working day,” said Dr. Lamb. “This should make it easier to keep track of what is going on and encourage people to attend events throughout the year.”
When the Dyson Center re-opens for the 2024-2025 school year, it will be the first construction project completed since the COVID pandemic and during President Kevin C. Weinman’s time at Marist. The modern building promises to reset the standard for Marist as it pushes into the next era.
