A New Picture Perfect Club: 333
333 at Marist is a new club on campus, not yet chartered, with over 60 members that takes students through the creative process of an editorial photo shoot. Students can claim roles to be models, photographers, hair stylists, makeup artists and clothing stylists.
Students involved can use their work for portfolios, as well as for their own personal use. There are about four models per shoot, one hair stylist, one makeup artist, two clothing stylists per model and two to three photographers per shoot. Going forward, 333 at Marist hopes to hold about five or six photo shoots per semester. The club uses sustainable materials with everything coming from students' pre-owned items and repurposing them.
When asked who would be best suited for the club, founder, president and creative director of 333 at Marist, Lucy Baldino ‘25, said, “We are welcoming of everyone of all majors, sizes, races, skill levels and genders. There is no previous experience necessary, as we want people who have a passion for these things to be able to showcase their work in a less critical environment.”
Baldino transferred to Marist from Lasell University where there was a similar club in which she took part in.
The name of the club, “333” derives from the angel number. 333 means “adding your unique talents and abilities to a certain situation” which perfectly enforces what the club stands for. Baldino said, “There are so many people within the school of fashion as well as the other schools that we offer here at Marist that are so good at what they do, such as photography or makeup for example, that don’t get to showcase their talents due to what they are studying, so I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to do that.”
Baldino and 333 at Marist’s E-Board picks themes from members' pitches and is open to ideas from anyone eager to be involved. This club is about collaboration and is a great opportunity to meet new people and work together on a shared interest. Baldino said, “I can say that as a transfer, it was definitely hard to make friends. But, with this club I have been able to meet so many new faces and find cool people that I may not have been able to meet if I didn’t start this.”
The club has had about two to three meetings so far and completed one photo shoot. The first photo shoot theme was Fiourucci, which means “flower bloom” in Italian. Baldino thought the theme was perfect to kick off the spring season.
Kaitlin La Du ‘26, a photographer from the first shoot, said she became involved with the club after seeing a flyer posted in Lowell Thomas. “My experience with 333 at Marist has been positive so far. In high school I would love to do photo shoots with my friends, but when I got to college it became harder to keep the creativity going as strong. I’m glad 333 at Marist came into the picture because now I have the ability to continue what I do and have that shared with a whole group of students,” said La Du. She encouraged anyone interested in photography to get involved. “Take and create every opportunity to keep pushing and making work you can be proud of. Make some art in front of your lens and capture it with your camera,” said La Du.
Stylist Josh Guarino ‘26 said it has been an overall great experience. He plans to be involved with the club as both a stylist and model in coming shoots in hopes of developing his professional portfolio.
As this new uncharted club starts the process of being chartered under SGA, President Lucy Baldino emphasized, “Seriously anyone can join. We want students of all demographics and interests to get involved. Again, you don’t need to have any previous experience which I think is the best part and it allows students to grow their skills. We usually have meetings once a week in the Steel Plant on Tuesday nights, but we post on our Instagram account when meetings will be and what time so make sure to follow…In the future we want to help students with their skills, such as practicing hair, makeup, photography, etc at a low expectation environment.”
